What is Baby Yoga

Baby yoga is a centuries-old tradition which can help give a child the best possible start in life-health, happiness, security and a feeling of being loved, the benefits of baby yoga for mother

and baby are significant, impressive and undisputed and are widely endorsed by medical practitioners across the world. Whilst it may sound too good to be true baby Yoga could be the key to a happy, healthy and secure baby.

Baby yoga involves the parent or caregiver learning a series of stretches poses and moves which will enhance their baby’s physiological and psychological development and deepen the parent-infant bond through nurturing touch. Nurturing touch supports the parent-infant relationship and promotes sensitive, attuned parenting.

As well as learning the yoga sequence, baby yoga is about discovering new born communication through their baby’s language (non- verbal communication) and learning how to interpret this in terms of whether they would like to do yoga or not. Claire believes that is important for a parent or carer to only practice with their baby if the baby is accepting of yoga and effectively agrees to the process.

The style of baby yoga taught is based on Hatha Yoga- the union of balance of mind and body and incorporates massage soft stretching and gentle movements to make it appropriate for babies, ensuring a fun and rewarding experience for both caregiver and baby.

Claire believes that every child has the right to feel Cherished, Loved and Safe and baby massage and baby yoga are the perfect external demonstration of these three key conditions. We want every child to benefit from the nurturing touch that massage and yoga can communicate between parent and child.
